We always support our learners with finding the best option for them whether that is offering a Functional skills level 2 equivalent or a GCSE. These qualifications are most commonly taken to get into University or for a higher education course or apprenticeship. To make sure we are as helpful as possible, we aim to find out about the learner to offer them the best option for them. This in most cases is offering a Functional skills level 2 equivalent but occasionally a GCSE exam is the solution. The Functional skills exam is generally easier to pass making it the more suggested option but certain employers will only accept a GCSE qualification.

The level 2 maths equivalent is around 35 topics which may seem daunting at first but is soon accepted once a good foundation of knowledge has been built. Before sitting the exam, you should ensure you are ready and are confident on the topics in the course. When you are ready, you can sit the exam at home via an Ofqual regulated centre which makes the exam more flexible than the GCSE.

We often get international learners approaching us needing an English qualification as they have not had the chance yet to achieve one, for this we recommend the level 2 English equivalent. This qualification is widely accepted by employers and is mandatory by most.

If you are interested in either Functional skills or a GCSE please feel free to get in touch today. We offer the best advice and resources available and are always happy to help any learner no matter their age or skill level.
