What is the qualification?

The qualification itself is the equivalent of a PASS grade in SATS, which is what you would receive at the end of primary school. The exam is mostly taken by those who failed their STAS or were not able to take them originally. The qualification (if received) will give access to high school and equivalent education. We are affiliated with multiple exam boards, so you will be able to choose between them to get the exam that will best suit your situation. The exam boards include:

  • Open Awards

  • City and Guilds

The Exam

The exam will consist of 2 different parts

The Non-Calculator Paper

This is the first part of the exam and will last 30 minutes. It will consist of multiple Maths questions that you will have to answer without a calculator.

The Calculator Paper

This is the second part of the exam and will last 90 minutes. It will consist of multiple Maths questions that you can use a calculator to answer. Please note for this section that you can’t use a scientific calculator!

These 2 papers will be taken at once, so you will be unable to take them at different times. Also note that while in the English exam you can fail one part and you would only have to resit that part, for maths you will have to resit everything.
