The first step towards beginning revision for your Functional Skills exam is to find out what your current skill level is. To give you the best idea, we have designed free, up-to-date initial and diagnostic assessments for Maths and English. The first determines the level of knowledge the learner has. Showing the learner what level they should enter. While the second is a topic diagnostic. Showing the learner what topics they are strong/weak in. Both are based entirely on Functional Skills. Our Diagnostic Assessments site offers access to both the initial and diagnostic assessments for both subjects. Allowing learners full, free access to the tests.

After taking both the initial and diagnostic assessments, it will be time to choose your revision materials. By using the results from the 2 assessments, you can confidently choose what is best for you. Allowing you to pick materials that cover the areas you struggle the most in. Ensure that the resources chosen are of good quality and up-to-date. Using the most accurate materials will give you the best revision experience possible. While using out-of-date or bad-quality resources will lead to coming into your exam with incorrect information.

The Functional Skills initial assessments allow for an excellent way to start your revision. Being free and up-to-date makes them an essential tool for anyone wanting to take their Functional Skills exams. They ensure you begin right, ensuring that you pick the best resources and get the most out of the time you have to revise.
